Thriving Artists

At Miami, we celebrate our thriving artists! The College of Creative Arts is very proud to have an excellent job placement rate for arts alumni. In 2019, 96.7% of seniors graduating in an arts-related major were employed or enrolled in a graduate program within a year of graduation. In addition, Miami University has one of the highest return-on-investment statistics for public universities in the nation.

While we want our students to explore, create, and grow at Miami, we are also very serious about making sure they thrive upon graduation.

  • The CCA has its own Career Center liaison, Michelle Vaske, who works directly with CCA faculty and staff, and begins to work with students on Day One of their Miami experience.
  • First-year students are introduced to career exploration during the fall of their freshman year and continue to build relationships with Michelle and the College of Creative Arts career community, which includes faculty, staff, and a network of successful Miami alumni.
  • The CCA has its very own #ThrivingArtist Network. The network connects CCA alum in cities across the country with graduating seniors.

Join the Thriving Artist Network

In order to help young artists thrive, the College of Creative Arts Advisory Board developed a powerful new network. The vision for the #ThrivingArtist network involves establishing an engaged group of arts alumni in major cities in the U.S.

In joining a particular network, an alumni agrees to help a recently matriculated student who is moving to that city in a variety of possible ways: review a resume, allow for a job shadow, do an informational interview, buy the student a meal, etc. This network allows for both mentorship for students (as they begin their life after college) and for more active dialogue and collaboration between arts alumni in key metropolitan areas. #ThrivingArtist networking events are also held in those key metropolitan areas for members to connect, socialize and share resources.
