Beginning in the summer of 2012, the Miami community was strongly encouraged to begin adopting the university’s new domain name, Since July, 2012, Miami and EDUCAUSE, which administers .edu domains, have been advocating with the U.S. Department of Commerce, which legislates .edu domains, to allow universities to have up to two active domains. However, for reasons unknown, the Department of Commerce has not made a decision nor given any indication if/when a decision will be made.

We are continuing to investigate all possible avenues, however because we have not received any indication from either EDUCAUSE or the US Department of Commerce that we will be allowed to keep two domain names, we are planning on not being available after June 1, 2014. For that reason we are requesting everyone in the Miami community to review their use of the domain name and make sure everything is pointing towards before June 1.
