Highlights and Opportunities

  • Conduct terrestrial and aquatic research at the Ecology Research Center
  • Analyze biological data, such as DNA or protein sequences, at the Center for Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary faculty in applied research projects related to food, health, and sustainable agriculture at the Institute for Food
  • Engage with professors on funded research or conduct your own independent research study in state-of-the-art lab spaces, including at the new Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness Building
  • Participate in research-focused internships and scholarships to work on independent projects:
    • Dean’s Scholars program, which provides a stipend for approximately 30 of Miami's best seniors, selected in the spring of their junior year, to conduct an independent study with a faculty mentor
    • Undergraduate Summer Scholars program, which awards a stipend plus money for supplies
    • Mallory-Wilson Center for Healthcare Education, which offers programs to enrich and enhance pre-healthcare education as well as internships and scholarships
  • Take advantage of valuable advice from professors about careers, graduate programs, and professional programs, including schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, optometry, and veterinary science
