State Advocacy Program

Desirae Danzy and Dana JohnsonThis past summer, a Master’s student, Desirae Danzy, and an undergraduate student, Dana Johnson, were selected to participate in the Program for Advocacy and Leadership for Students, sponsored by OSLHA. The goal of the program was to foster an understanding of and commitment to advocacy. The students learned about issues important to our professions and current bills under consideration by the Ohio Legislature. On October 10, 2017, Desirae and Dana attended a legislative reception at the Statehouse Atrium in Columbus, OH. Many state representatives and senators were in attendance as well as various Ohio Speech Pathology and Audiology organizations. Desirae is in her second year of the Master’s program and Dana Johnson, a senior at Miami University will graduate in May of 2018, and has plans to attending graduate school in speech-language pathology.
