American Legion Buckeye Boys State
Empowering Leaders. Strengthening Citizenship. Shaping Ohio’s Future.

American Legion Buckeye Boys State
A week to shape a lifetime: Each summer, nearly 1,000 of Ohio’s top high school juniors attend American Legion Buckeye Boys State (BBS), the nation’s largest program of its kind. In a fully simulated state government, participants run for office, pass legislation, and manage civic institutions — gaining skills in leadership, public speaking, and collaborative problem solving. Communities across Ohio benefit as participants return home with the confidence, civic literacy, and commitment to service that elevate local life and advance the state’s future. Hosted at Miami since 2017, BBS is a powerful partnership with the American Legion that ensures Ohio continues to produce engaged citizens and leaders.
