Government Relations Network
Good government depends on leaders who are educated, trained, and compassionate. Democracy, itself, rests on preparing a rising generation with civic understanding, practical experience, and a commitment to service. Miami University’s Government Relations Network (GRN) cultivates future public servants by providing direct, unfettered access to local, state, and federal decision-makers across all branches of government. Since 2004, more than 1,600 GRN members have engaged with elected officials, staff, and civic leaders sharing their Miami experience. GRN members participate in the university’s economic and workforce initiatives; coordinate conferences; and build advocacy, communication, and civil discourse skills. The result is a pipeline of informed leaders prepared to advance and elevate Ohio communities by adding value on day one of employment.

The Miami Difference
Talent That Adds Value on Day One of Employment.
- Ohio’s only program providing over 1,600 future civic leaders direct, firsthand access to decision-makers at every level and branch of government — offering a seat in the rooms where civic and legislative decisions take shape.
- Through hands-on experiences in government and civic life, GRN members develop professionalism, resilience, and the ability to work across differences — skills that add value on day one of employment.
- The GRN develops civic-ready professionals whose leadership, policy insight, and community engagement advance Ohio’s economy and elevate the communities where they live, work, and serve.
