Adding Value for Employers

Work+ Program

Miami and Ohio

Ohio employers seeking dependable, long-term talent find a proven pipeline in Miami University’s Work+ program. Employers gain the ability to "audition" participants while they are part-time employees and still in school — improving retention and reducing recruiting costs when participants transition to full-time roles. Employers invest up to $8,000 annually, with $5,250 in potential tax savings per participant. Work+ provides a debt-free education — or significant tuition support — combined with practical work experience that equips participants to add value on day one of employment. Launched at Miami and established statewide by House Bill 614, signed by Governor and Miami alumnus Mike DeWine in 2020, Work+ is expanding with nearly 20 industry partners and a growing wait-list of participants.

The Miami Difference

Talent That Adds Value on Day One of Employment.

  • The only program of its kind in Ohio and unique nationwide, Work+ was created at Miami and scaled statewide as Ohio’s model for combining work and education.
  • Employers gain dependable workers already trained in their processes, systems, and culture. Participants gain a debt-free education — or significant tuition support — combined with practical work experience, equipping them to add value on day one of employment.
  • Employers lower recruitment and onboarding costs while improving retention. Communities gain economic growth through a workforce that works and learns locally.
