Dr. Aydogdu's teaching expertise covers areas that include but are not limited to multiethnic literature of the U.S., critical ethnic studies, comparative racialization, women of color feminism, and American studies.

Dr. Aydogdu's research interrogates the formative role the literary realm takes in articulations of cross-racial coalition and alliance-based minority discourse. She is specifically interested in the works of autobiography and fiction by immigrant women of Near and Middle Eastern backgrounds. She has conducted research that weaves together the critical lenses of postcolonial theory, critical race and ethnic studies, and American studies to explore representations of interethnic and transnational solidarities, shared intellectual and spiritual connections, and differential marginalization of African Americans and immigrants.
