Experience at Miami
I gained practical experience by serving as a Teaching Assistant for three years and participating in "Code to Learn," where we held coding boot camps for local elementary schools. I discovered that I truly enjoy teaching others and helping them reach those "aha" moments when complex concepts finally make sense.
Relationships built on campus
I found my lifelong friends before I even set foot in a classroom, thanks to a first-year group chat that brought us together through shared interests. That group remained tight-knit throughout college, and one of them was even the best man at my wedding. Between that core group and my time in the Marching Band and Pep Band, I was constantly surrounded by a supportive community. I also built strong connections with faculty, specifically by serving as a TA and traveling with my professors.
Because of Miami
Because of Miami, I entered the workforce with the soft skills necessary to succeed. The curriculum didn't just teach me coding languages; it taught me how to translate technical requirements for non-technical stakeholders, a skill I use daily. Miami’s networking environment was also crucial; I maintained a connection with a recruiter I met in my first year, which directly led to securing my full-time job offer right after graduation.
