Welcome to the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion at Miami University!

Building on past and ongoing work, the goal of the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion is to provide an integrated, holistic vision of diversity, equity, and inclusion and strategic direction at Miami University. I am excited to collaboratively lead and support efforts across the university as we continue to intentionally work towards sustainably embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion across structures, policies, initiatives, and programming in line with our inclusive excellence goals.

I look forward to working with Miami’s amazing faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and partners to support and advance increasingly inclusive structures and lived practices for recruitment, retention, climate, programming, educational opportunities, and excellence.

The inclusive living, learning, and working environment that is central to our success must reflect the multiple intersecting identities within our local and global communities and promote the full participation of every student, faculty, staff, and partner. The work already accomplished in past years, and the significant work completed and underway as a result of the ongoing efforts of the DEI Task Force and Implementation Group, brings us closer to our inclusive excellence goals. 

As we further develop the Office to meet the needs of our communities and support existing and new efforts across the University, I look forward to sharing updates and information on this website and more broadly, as we work to ensure our efforts align with our shared values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Over the coming months, I plan to actively listen, learn, and engage with Miami faculty, staff, students, and partners. I welcome your thoughts, ideas, and engagement as we continue the long-term, complex work of identifying and constructively engaging with ongoing injustices, inequities, and forms of oppression that go against our shared values of diversity, equity, and inclusion and as we collaborate on ways forward.

Reporting Office

Office of Equity and Equal Opportunity (OEEO)
This office provides an equitable environment for students, faculty, and staff and works to achieve this with compassion, understanding, and fairness to all parties involved. The OEEO staff works closely with faculty and staff on matters related to equitable hiring practices, ADA compliance for persons with disabilities, and issues of discrimination as well as providing information and training.
