Business Leadership Co-Major
The term "co-major" is unique and indicates that students must be concurrently enrolled in and must complete another major at Miami University. The co-major complements this primary major, which provides significant depth and breadth in an academic discipline. There is no specific degree designation for the co-major; students receive the degree designation of their primary major.
Description
In today's business world, organizations need interdisciplinary leaders who combine strong business fundamentals with advanced leadership capabilities. The Business Leadership co-major bridges this gap by integrating core business knowledge with specialized training in ethical leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational change management.
This innovative program prepares graduates to not only understand business operations but to lead with purpose, vision, and integrity. In a world where business practices are increasingly scrutinized and stakeholder expectations continue to evolve, this co-major develops professionals who can navigate complex challenges while driving sustainable organizational success.
Students graduating with the Business Leadership co-major will be able to:
- Apply fundamental business principles across functional areas while demonstrating advanced leadership competencies in decision-making contexts
- Develop and articulate ethical frameworks for business leadership that balance profit objectives with social responsibility and stakeholder interests
- Analyze organizational challenges using strategic thinking methodologies and implement effective change management solutions
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills essential for leading diverse teams and influencing organizational stakeholders
- Cultivate a personal leadership philosophy that integrates business acumen, ethical consciousness, and adaptability to changing business environments
• Part I (the Business Minor) provides non-FSB students with a foundational understanding of various functional areas of business and the necessary business foundation for Part II.
• Part II (the Business Leadership minor) develops professional and leadership skills needed to effectively lead and contribute to organizational success, specifically in change management, leadership, strategy, and business ethics.
