Lisa Peterson joins Miami’s Board of Trustees
Director of communications for Gov. Mike DeWine begins term on March 1
Lisa A. Peterson, director of communications for Gov. Mike DeWine, is the newest appointment to Miami University’s Board of Trustees.
Peterson’s term begins March 1 and ends Feb. 28, 2033. A 1988 Miami graduate, Peterson oversees communications for a network of 27 cabinet-level agencies – and boards and commissions.
Peterson previously served as communications director for Ohio’s attorney general’s office, as well as communications director responsibilities for the Ohio State Medical Association, the Ohio Association of Health Plans, and the Ohio Senate Republican Caucus. She also served in communications roles for Gov. George Voinovich and state Treasurer Joe Deters.
In addition, Peyton B. Morrow will serve as a student member of the Board of Trustees for a term beginning March 1 and ending Feb. 28, 2026. Morrow is a sophomore Biology and Neuroscience major from Shreve and serves on the Dean of the Libraries Student Advisory Council.
Trustee Sandy Collins will be departing Miami’s Board of Trustees following an appointment to the State Employment Relations Board for a term beginning Feb. 9 and ending Oct. 6, 2026.
Miami’s Board of Trustees includes up to 17 members, 11 of whom are appointed by the governor of Ohio, with the advice and consent of the Senate. The current Board of Trustees includes 14 members. Each gubernatorial appointee must be an Ohio resident and two must be enrolled students.
