Miami’s trustees approve resolution to support Oxford Fire and EMS funding
Miami University’s Board of Trustees approved Resolution R2024-xx, which includes the City of Oxford Fire and EMS Service Agreement and the Miami University and City of Oxford Economic Development Agreement.
This resolution aims to foster an attractive, safe, and economically viable community. The city will present a $2.6 million, 10-year fire and EMS real property tax levy in the General Election on Nov. 5. Upon passage of the levy, the university will contribute $1,270,000 annually to the city for the Fire and EMS Fund for 10 years, beginning Jan. 1, 2025. In addition, the City of Oxford has committed to investing $270,000 annually in economic development activities.
The trustees also:
- Authorized the operating budget for fiscal year 2025, which includes a 3% increment pool.
- Authorized the renovation of the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce and Innovation Hub located at the recently acquired property at 101 Knightsbridge Drive in Hamilton.
- Appointed Richard McVey as a national trustee.
- Bestowed the rank of 20 emerita/emeriti upon upcoming retirements.
- Approved the award of tenure to Liran Ma, chair of Computer Science Engineering, and Mohammad Mayyas, Engineering Technology.
- Approved the roof replacement project of McGuffey Hall.
The next meeting of the Miami University Board of Trustees is scheduled for Sept. 18-20, 2024.
