Free hats for students, a Carnival on the Concourse for young fans, and the top men’s basketball team in the Mid-American Conference – the upcoming One Miami Weekend, presented by E&H Ace Hardware, has a little bit of everything.

Not only can Miamians get free tickets to catch these crucial MAC court clashes, but One Miami tickets also are available for Miami ice hockey’s weekend series vs. Arizona State on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

“We truly appreciate all the hard work from our faculty and staff, and this is one way we can show that appreciation,” Miami President Gregory Crawford said. “It’s also a tremendous opportunity to support our winter athletic programs and cheer the RedHawks on to victory.”

Faculty and staff can request complimentary basketball tickets for their immediate family. One ticket gains entrance to both basketball games. Community members also can receive complimentary tickets by visiting MiamiRedHawks.com/promos and using the code ONEMIAMI.

There will be a free winter hat giveaway for students during the basketball game, and 4,000 “Wally faces” celebrating Miami basketball icon Wally Szczerbiak will be given out at the door. Miami basketball alumni, including Szczerbiak, will be attending the game.

Students also can enter-to-win for an iPad, Airpod Max headphones, and Nintendo Switch at each basketball game, as well as a drawing for a 55-inch Roku TV during each basketball game.

T-shirt tosses, postgame autographs, and a Carnival on the Concourse featuring inflatables, games, and activities will also be part of the festivities at Millett Hall.

Both Miami basketball programs are off to strong starts. The women’s team has won three of its last four games.

Miami’s men’s basketball team currently sits atop the MAC standings at 6-0. The RedHawks have won eight straight games for the first time since the 1996-1997 season, and a recent Cincinnati Enquirer article focused on the program’s potential March Madness future.

Faculty and staff may also request up to four tickets for the upcoming hockey games. Colby Ambrosio, RedHawk forward, is among the nominees for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award, given annually to college hockey’s most outstanding player.

“We absolutely love this event," University Ambassador Dr. Renate Crawford said. “It is a chance for us to thank our faculty and staff, and we often get a chance to meet their family members, which is something we look forward to every year.”
