Miami University Oxford campus enters into bilateral reciprocity agreement for Indiana students
The university’s Oxford campus recently joined a tuition reciprocity agreement between Ohio and Indiana that offers an in-state student rate for residents of Indiana border counties. This applies to both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Miami Regionals currently has tuition reciprocity agreements for students in parts of Indiana and Kentucky.
“Expanding the Indiana-Ohio bilateral reciprocity agreement to encompass all programs at all campuses at Miami University is a game-changer for students in neighboring Indiana counties who are connected to Ohio communities,” said Rachel Beech, vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Success. “This extension of the agreement to include the Oxford campus directly supports their academic ambitions by increasing access to a wider range of affordable, quality degree pathways, strengthening student enrollment options, and a greater return on their investment, allowing more of them to choose Miami.”
The agreement runs through 2027 and can be renewed biannually.
Considering ways to increase access and improve affordability for students is important for Miami, said Bethany Perkins, assistant vice president and director of the Office of Admission.
“Often, students may choose to attend college closer to home, with a focus on affordability,” Perkins said. “Opportunities like these provide students with more access to Miami’s high-quality educational offerings that prepare them for rewarding careers.”
The agreement includes first-year students, transfer students, and graduate students for Indiana residents in Adams, Allen, Blackford, Clark, DeKalb, Dearborn, Decatur, Delaware, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Harrison, Henry, Jay, Jefferson, Jennings, LaGrange, Noble, Ohio, Randolph, Ripley, Rush, Scott, Steuben, Switzerland, Union, Washington, Wayne, and Wells Counties.
Miami’s Oxford campus is one of 19 Ohio campuses represented in the agreement. Seven Indiana campuses are also included in the agreement and accept Indiana resident tuition rates for residents in 15 Ohio border counties.
“It is a significant cost difference for these students,” Perkins said. “This opportunity makes Miami accessible with students who perhaps ruled us out early on in the past. Our team can’t wait to share with students while ‘on the road’ this fall that all of Miami’s campuses are now available to them for in-state tuition. It’s exciting.”
