Adaptive Nature Walk on Wheels: Explore Oxford Area Trails Oct. 5

Yoshi Tomoyasu, associate professor of Biology (on handcycle) will lead an adaptive nature walk on wheels, with participants from The Bridge Adaptive Sports & Recreation

Join Yoshi Tomoyasu, associate professor of Biology, and other Miami biologists for this Adaptive Nature Walk on Wheels 10 a.m.-noon, Sunday, Oct. 5. The event begins at the Miami University Natural Areas DeWitt Cabin Parking Area, 4824 Oxford Trenton Road, and will follow the Oxford Area Trails (OATS).

The field trip will take place mainly on paved trails through scenic autumn woods on the Oxford Area Trails (OATS), but may venture off the path to get closer to the wild.  Participants can learn about and explore Ohio’s native habitats, discover local wildlife, and learn about the impact of invasive species.

The event is open to handcyclists, family, and friends (bring your own bike or sign up if in need of a handcycle).

Register on The Bridge Adaptive Sports & Recreation registration form here (sign up for a handcycle on the form while still available.)

Along with Tomoyasu, other Miami biologists include:

  • Dave Gorchov, professor of Biology and chair of the Miami University Natural Areas committee
  • Deidra Jacobsen,  assistant professor of Biological Sciences and director of The Conservatory
  • Zheng Li, assistant professor of Biology and Herbarium director
  • Rich Moore, professor of Biology
  • Steve Sullivan, director of Miami's Hefner Museum of Natural History
