When the Cincinnati Reds return to Great American Ball Park on Friday for a three-game homestand against the Los Angeles Angels, a familiar face to Miami University baseball fans will be there to greet them.
Sam Bachman, Miami graduate and a former RedHawk standout on the diamond, is a right-handed relief pitcher in the Angels’ bullpen. Through Tuesday, Bachman had appeared in four games, with a 1.59 ERA and seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched.
The ninth overall pick of the 2021 MLB Draft, Bachman made history as the first-ever RedHawk selected in baseball’s first round.
While at Miami, Bachman was named a Freshman All-American and MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year, and he also earned First-Team All-MAC honors in 2019 and 2021. He also earned his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies.
Cincinnati hosts the Angels at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:40 p.m. on Sunday. More information on the games, including links to purchase tickets, are available on the Reds’ website.
