Instructure (Canvas) has notified us that Miami University was impacted by their recent security incident and that data involved may include personal information. However, their investigation is ongoing and we do not have details on the extent of the exposure. Instructure's current communications note that they do not believe passwords, dates of birth, government identifiers, or financial information were involved. We will share more information with the Miami community as we receive it.

Miami staff are taking Instructure's recommended actions and are monitoring for any further issues. Please use caution and do not respond to any unsolicited emails or messages appearing to come from Canvas or the university, particularly any requesting login credentials or personal information. Instead, forward anything suspicious to infosec@miamioh.edu.
