Career center hosts RedHawk Recruiting Summit to strengthen employer partnerships

The Center for Career Exploration and Success welcomed recruiters to campus for the RedHawk Recruiting Summit, a day designed to deepen engagement with the university ahead of fall recruiting season. The annual event took place on Aug. 11 in the Armstrong Student Center pavilion and conference rooms, connecting employers with student panelists, faculty, and staff.
“The summit is designed to help employers be proactive rather than reactive with their recruiting strategies at Miami,” said Valarie Jacobsen, director of employer relations in the Career Center. “Employers today are navigating a tighter, more competitive recruiting landscape. When employers connect with our faculty, students, and each other, they create far more effective talent pipelines here.”
The day started with an optional campus tour at 9:15 a.m., highlighting Miami's innovative learning spaces that prepare students for career readiness. The day started with a dean's panel at 11 a.m. and a keynote address from Megan Gerhardt, professor of Management, titled, “Gentelligence: Preparing Tomorrow's Workforce in the Age of AI,” at 12:30 p.m. Breakout sessions at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. offered student panels, RedHawk Table Talk workgroups, and the Early Arrival Engineering Program.
The 41 attending employers represented industries including nonprofit, education, healthcare, manufacturing, technology, government, and financial services.
