Presidential Career Leadership Series announces three treks for 2026-27 school year

Career treks available to Miami students for Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus; Applications for Into the Queen City due Oct. 23

Amelia Solmos ’26 didn’t know how many doors her major could open. Then, she experienced one of the three 2025-26 Presidential Career and Leadership Series career treks.

“On these kinds of trips, you get to learn more about people’s lives, how companies work, and what careers can look like,” Solmos said. “I learned my Philosophy degree is very helpful in critical thinking and communicating complex concepts into more manageable, understandable ones.”

Now free for Oxford students, this academic year’s Presidential Career and Leadership Series will offer career treks to Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus. By visiting organizations from targeted fields and hearing from professionals in both formal and informal settings, participants will gain exposure to job and internship opportunities, discover how their major applies to different career paths, and learn about workplace culture and employer responsibilities.

Additionally, attendees will experience what it’s like to live in these major Ohio cities by visiting some of their marquee attractions, such as sporting events and museums.

Into the Queen City

Cincinnati, Nov. 13, 2026

The first trek, Into the Queen City, is designed for students interested in health and science, and management, sales, and consulting. Students will visit Total Quality Logistics (TQL), UC Health, and the Cincinnati Museum Center. Applications are due Oct. 23.

Upcoming Treks

For students interested in other career clusters, the last two treks of the series are still in the works. During last year’s treks to Columbus and Cleveland, students visited organizations like the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, the Ohio Statehouse, Playhouse Square, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They also attended a Blue Jackets and a Cavaliers game.

Into the Capital City

Columbus, Jan. 19-21, 2027

Designed for students interested in:

  • Arts, communication, media, and design
  • Education, nonprofit, and human services
  • Law and government

Into the LAND

While each career trek has a defined interest area, students who are exploring their career options are always welcome to attend. For students like Solmos, a career trek could be the very thing that takes you from uncertain to certain in your career.

“Major does not equal career,” Solmos said. “There are so many opportunities that I never would have thought of before this trip.”
