Miami University has reached a historic milestone in its largest-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign, For love. For honor. For those who will., surpassing its $1 billion goal following a transformational gift of up to $100 million from the Farmer Family Foundation.
President Gregory Crawford announced the achievement today during his State of the University address, marking a significant moment in the campaign, which will continue to raise funds in support of university priorities through its scheduled conclusion on June 30, 2027.
“For love. For honor. For those who will. is about creating lasting opportunities for our students and advancing the strategic priorities that will shape Miami’s future.” President Crawford said. “Reaching this extraordinary milestone is inspiring proof of the commitment our donors and supporters have for Miami students and for the university.”
The gift from the Farmer Family Foundation will allow the Farmer School of Business to continue its momentum as a globally recognized leader in business education.
The gift is the largest in Miami’s history and one of the top three largest gifts given to a public undergraduate business school in the United States
Donors have responded to this campaign with extraordinary generosity, said Scott Barrett, Miami’s vice president of University Advancement.
“What stands out to me about this campaign is the remarkable commitment of our donors to Miami. Every gift represents an investment in our students, our faculty, and the opportunities that make a Miami education so special. That’s the real impact of reaching this milestone,” Barrett said.
For love. For honor. For those who will. reflects Miami’s educational transdisciplinary focus. Each academic division set campaign goals to align with the four cornerstones, with several initiatives featuring multiple colleges collaborating together.
Inspired by Miami’s legacy of Love and Honor, the campaign name was a way to pay homage to the university’s history while keeping an eye turned toward a positive future. Nearly one-third of the campaign’s $1 billion – $320 million – has been earmarked for student scholarships.
“Ensuring deserving students from all backgrounds have access to a Miami education has been a driving force of this campaign,” Barrett said. “By providing this generous philanthropic support, we can guarantee Miami remains a reachable destination for years to come.”
The campaign is already expanding opportunities for students and faculty. Over 80% of funds raised to date will support scholarships and academic programs, and philanthropic investments have helped grow Miami’s endowment to more than $1 billion. More than 57,000 alumni and friends have contributed gifts of all sizes toward the campaign’s $1 billion goal.
