Fenton edits themed issue of African Arts

Jordan Fenton, associate professor of Art History, edited the themed issue of African Arts, "Art Across Africa Before 1600" (volume 59, issue 2, 2026). This is the first-ever special issue of a major journal considering pre-1600 African arts and includes five peer-reviewed articles and one exhibition review. As lead of the editorial team, he also co-authored the introductory essay of the issue, "Arts Across Africa Before 1600: An Ever-Growing Void?," along with Matthew Rarey, Joseph Underwood, Sarah Van Beurden, and Kristen Windmuller-Luna.
