Carole Johnson
Carole Johnson joins the Department of Media, Journalism, and Film at Miami University as a faculty member teaching in the area of strategic communication.
She brings to the position more than 20 years of experience in integrated marketing and communications, much of it at Miami University. Her most recent role was director of marketing communications within University Communications for the College of Engineering and Computing. Prior to her role as director, she was the associate director of university news and communications at Miami. Carole worked on media relations and content creation for both marketing and public relations initiatives. She has an extensive background in writing, having started her career as a journalist before segueing into strategic communications.
While at Miami, Carole served on numerous committees, most recently on the Covid-19 Response Team and the Safe Return to Campus Steering Committee. In 2020, she led the news and communications department as interim director during the pandemic. As the editor of Miami Matters, she oversaw the production of the news department’s e-newsletter that features the achievements of faculty, staff, and students and news of the university.
Carole has also taught courses in journalism and public speaking as an adjunct instructor within the Department of Media, Journalism, and Film at Miami. She received her undergraduate degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University and her master’s in strategic communication from Miami University.
