Biography

Emmanuel Gbede is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Media, Journalism & Film at Miami University, where he teaches courses in media production, specifically MJF 146: Foundations of Production. His work bridges creative practice, with a focus on visual storytelling as a tool for cultural preservation and social transformation.

Emmanuel earned his B.A. in Film Studies at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, where he graduated as the Best Graduating Film Student. He went on to complete his M.F.A. in Film (Cinematography track)at Ohio University. As a filmmaker and cinematographer, Emmanuel has directed and served as the Director of Photography for several short and feature films, music videos, commercials as well as numerous documentaries. He has also served as a creative and media head for various live streaming events. Beyond production, strong leadership, teaching and creative practice, Emmanuel is committed to mentoring emerging filmmakers and individuals interested in media production.
