Biography
Amy grew up performing with a professional children’s theatre in Arkansas and assumed she would continue that path through college and into her career. While earning her B.A. in Theatre she quickly realized that creation through technical theatre was her passion. As a student, she was often found in the makeup room or the costume shop. After graduation, she found her love of teaching while working part-time as a high school drama teacher and serving part-time as the Assistant Costume Designer for her alma mater.
Eventually, Amy returned to school to earn her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from Kent State University to return to the academic world at the collegiate level. Though knowledgeable in all areas of costume production, her favorite part of the process is the construction of costumes. Her work has been seen in Trollwood Performing Arts School’s production of Mamma Mia, Virginia Theatre Festival’s Little Shop of Horrors, and Kent State’s productions of The Crucible, The Wiz, and Rent.
At Miami, Amy oversees all aspects of the costume department and process. She also teaches Stage Makeup and Costume Fundamentals.
