Biography

As Cassie finished her Bachelor’s degree in the Theater at Northwestern College she figured out that she preferred to stay behind the scenes and work on creating the world of the production instead of performing in it. It took an internship at Lookingglass Theater in Chicago, a couple of summers on stage crew at The Santa Fe Opera, an internship at Baltimore Center Stage, and a few summers at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival before she figured out that Lighting Design was truly her passion and that continuing her education at Illinois State University was the best course of action for her. She received her M.F.A from ISU and began working all over the Chicago land area as a designer and an electrician.

She was able to bring that wide range of experience working with and for Marriott, Writers, Chicago Shakes, Museum of Contemporary Art, Lookingglass, Steppenwolf, Goodman, Drury Lane and so many others back to Illinois State University as a Light Shop Supervisor and to the Illinois Shakespeare Festival as a designer and Lead Electrician. And now she brings it here to Miami as the Lead Electrician and Production Coordinator. The spaces are familiar from the design work she has had the privilege of doing at Miami for the past few years but she is grateful to be joining the staff and faculty in this new position!
