Heather has performed professionally for over twenty years, including Off-Broadway (Manhattan Theatre Project), and other NY (Various festivals at New York Theatre Workshop, Playwrights Horizons, Red Door Theatre, and PS-122); Regional stages such as Naomi Iizuka's Strike/Slip (Humana Festival / ATL - Dir. Chay Yes); Naomi Iizuka's 36 Views (Huntington Theatre, Boston - Dir. Evan Yionoullis); and earning Best Actress and Superior Achievement Awards for roles such as Clytemnestra in Iphegenia 2.0 (Cleveland Public Theatre); Birdie in The Little Foxes (Cleveland Play House, Tony Award Winning Season as Best Regional Theatre - Dir/Art Dir Laura Kepley); Sarah in Time Stands Still (Dobama Theatre - Dir Nathan Motta); and Melinda in Eric Coble's My Barking Dog (Cleveland Public Theatre). Heather has held core faculty positions at Oberlin College and Case Western Reserve University, creating new courses in Acting / Voice and Movement - approaches ranging from ultra-naturalistic approaches to intentionally non-naturalistic theories of performance, including Meisner, Actors Studio / Stanislavski, Poetic Realism, and Brecht's Epic Theatre. While at Oberlin College, she created and developed an interdisciplinary course in Acting Brecht with History, Politics, and Art departments and earned multi-year Mellon Foundation Grants for her research and engagement with Berliner Ensemble Theatre's training program at Ernst Bush Drama School in Berlin, Germany. Heather holds a Certification as Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework, training directly with Catherine Fitzmaurice, Saul Kozubei, Michael Morgan, and Illsa Pfeifer in NY and at Yale Drama School. She's delighted to be joining such a wonderful team at Miami's Department of Theatre at the College of Creative Arts!
