Marly has designed lighting for productions across the midwest including 2 seasons at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival where she designed Richard II, Q Gents, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and Peter and the Starcatcher. And 3 seasons as the resident lighting designer for the Clinton Area Showboat where she designed over 15 shows. Some of her favorites included Into the Woods, Drowsy Chaperone, and Big River. She has also designed for a number of other theatres in Illinois including Provision Theatre, Citadel Theatre, Fox Valley Repertory, Peoria Ballet, 20% Theatre Company and others.
Prior to Miami she was the head of the lighting area at Illinois State University where she taught graduate and undergraduate classes in lighting design and technology. She also designed many productions for them including In the Next Room, or The Vibrator Play and Evita. In addition to designing in the season she also mentored student designers and electricians on many shows.
At Miami, Marly teaches classes in theatre organization, lighting design, stage management, and design thinking for the Theatre Department.
