Research Bio
Ann Sobel, Ph.D. is interested in software engineering, software engineering education, formal software specifications, and the security and privacy of software systems.
Her philosophy is that the development of high-quality software must be done using formal, rigorous methods and methodologies that are the core to the discipline of software engineering.
Her current research interests are focused on security breaches found within malicious software.
She has made major contributions in software engineering methodology and pedagogy. An associate editor with IEEE-CS Computer, she is also Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Education.
She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Ohio State University in 1986. She joined the faculty at Miami University in 1994.
