Teaching and Interests
Tony started teaching Information Technology in August of 1996, as he was finishing his MBA (IT Management) from Eastern Kentucky University. Prior to joining the CIT department, he had a wide range of industry experience and also taught at a number of institutions including National Business Colleges, Sullivan University, Bluegrass Community and Technical College, and Kentucky State University. Tony is also active on the Advisory Board for Kentucky State University's Applied Information Technology Program. During his time at Miami, he has also completed summer-long faculty internships with Commonwealth Credit Union and Healthbridge.
Tony is certified as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and and has been certified as a Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) and Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), as well as a number of other security certifications including Security+. Recently, he has also achieved the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation as he has branched out to teach courses in our bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology.
Tony has taught a variety of courses, including Cisco Routing and Switching (R/S), Microsoft Server Configuration, Enterprise Network Security, Multimedia Development (including Video Production), Systems Analysis and Design, Podcasting, Web Application Development with ASP.net, Database Design, and Healthcare Information Technology II. He is interested in instructional design, particularly in terms of online teaching, and is certified as a QM Peer Reviewer, and a QM Publisher Reviewer.
