Cynthia Johnson, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Johnson earned a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida in 1986; a M.S.E. in Computer Engineering in 1990 from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in 2011 from the University of Central Florida.
In between degrees and during, she worked as a software engineer for a variety of companies including Martin-Marietta, GE Transportation Systems, Sonalysts, Boeing and SAIC. Products worked on included missile control systems, locomotive control systems, radar detection shelters, and a variety of military training and simulation devices.
Her teaching experience began during her industry experience as an adjunct professor for Penn State Behrend, Florida Technical University, and Webster University. She also taught full- time as a visiting lecturer at University of Central Florida in the Computer Science department from 1997-1999. She joined Miami University in 2022 after 11 years as a professor at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia in the Information Technology discipline.
Her areas of research interest include software engineering, software development, machine learning, and context-based artificial intelligence.
