Biography
Dr. Karimi is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Miami University. She earned her Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering from University West, Sweden, with a focus on additive manufacturing of advanced alloys and AI-enabled process monitoring. Dr. Karimi has held research and leadership positions at the University of Waterloo, McMaster University, and in industry, where she led the development of patented 3D printing technologies and smart manufacturing solutions. Her work spans fundamental and applied research in advanced manufacturing, resulting in numerous peer-reviewed publications, competitive research awards, and collaborative projects with international industry partners.
Research Interests
Additive Manufacturing of Metals: Process optimization, defect mitigation, and design for additive manufacturing of advanced alloys.
AI-Enabled Process Monitoring: Development of in-situ monitoring systems and machine learning models for real-time quality control in metal 3D printing.
Smart Manufacturing and Digital Twins: Integration of data-driven modeling, predictive analytics, and digital twin technologies to improve manufacturing efficiency and reliability.
