Biography
Joel R. Malin, Ph.D., is a Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy at Miami University. His scholarship focuses on two main areas:
- how evidence is made, mobilized, and used in education policy and practice; and
- policy and leadership in relation to complex, cross-sector educational change.
Currently, Joel’s main research projects have aimed at understanding and/or supporting knowledge mobilization in education. Joel is also a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Evaluation and Education Policy (CEEP) at Indiana University. In line with his main interests, he is also an officer of the American Educational Research Association’s Special Interest Group (SIG) focused on Research Use and a member of the WERA-IRN on Research-Informed Educational Practice. He also serves as an Associate Editor of Educational Administration Quarterly, and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Education Policy, the International Journal of Education Policy and Leadership, and Values and Ethics in Educational Administration. He was a Midwest Athletic Conference Academic Leadership Development Program Fellow in 2022-23. Also in 2023, he received Miami University's Distinguished Teaching Award for Excellence in Graduate Instruction and Mentoring.
