Biography
My teaching interests center on biomechanics, human movement, and the application of biomechanical principles to exercise, sport, and human performance. My scholarly interests focus on injury prevention, with particular emphasis on understanding the biomechanical factors associated with running-related injuries.
My research interest examines how age, musculoskeletal function, and running biomechanics interact to influence injury risk and performance. A central question underlying my work is why certain runners develop injuries despite maintaining similar levels of physical activity and training. My doctoral research focused on recurrent calf strain injuries in Master-aged runners, investigating differences in running mechanics, muscle architecture, neuromuscular function, running economy, and muscle damage between runners with and without a history of recurrent calf strain. My broader scholarly interests include running biomechanics, lower-extremity injury mechanisms, muscle function, and the application of biomechanical and wearable technologies to assess human movement.
