Matt Hallett
… is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Wildlife Ecology & Conservation at the University of Florida, manager of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ Guyana Conservation Initiative, and co-founder of the Rupununi Wildlife Research Unit. His research focuses on using camera traps to understand the effect of habitat, hunting, logging, and livestock on the abundance and distribution of large mammals, as well as the impact of participatory research on wildlife conservation and management in the Rupununi Region of Guyana. Dr. Hallett earned his B.A. in Biology from the College of Charleston, M.A. in Zoology from Miami University/Project Dragonfly’s Global Field Program, and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Ecology from the School of Natural Resources & Environment (SNRE) from the University of Florida.
