Biography
Maegan Leavendusky works as GLOBIO’s Outreach Education and Project Coordinator and is also a part-time nurse. She holds bachelor's degrees in nursing and anthropology from Washburn University and has a Master of Arts in Biology from Miami University. During her graduate studies, Maegan focused on primate conservation as well as survey/questionnaire design, implementation, and evaluation. She traveled to Belize, Borneo, and Brazil for her Earth Expeditions. She recently traveled to Cameroon where The Great Ape Conservation Film Project was launched; this project focuses on the creation of primate and region-specific films to raise and amplify awareness, improve knowledge of and attitudes toward great apes, address conservation education research gaps, and inspire impactful conservation action in communities living in close proximity to great apes and threatened habitats. Maegan lives outside of Topeka, Kansas, with her husband and children. In her free time, she loves to read, swim, travel, and run with Mack, her English Mastiff.
