Inaugural Junior Achievement 18 Under Eighteen: Career in Sight awards nominations now open
In partnership with Miami University Regionals, Junior Achievement of Middletown Area will host the inaugural 18 Under Eighteen: Career in Sight awards honoring the most extraordinary young people in Southwest Ohio.
“We are looking for students who illustrate leadership, community involvement, and have the skills and qualities that will positively impact their field, community, and the lives of others,” said Maria Langendorf, president of Junior Achievement of Middletown Area.
Nominations are open to anyone who will be 18 or younger during the 2024-2025 school year. Each student can apply for one or two career cluster areas of interest among the 16 available. If two career clusters are chosen, the student must submit a separate video/essay response for each career cluster. Nominees must reside within the Junior Achievement Middletown Area school district. The deadline for applications is at 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 25.
All applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts in each career cluster field. Students chosen to advance to the interview process will be informed of the interview times on Nov. 19, 20, or 21. If a student selects two desired career pathways, they will interview each Career Cluster separately.
Nominees will participate in a series of workshops led by Miami University Regionals staff and community members. “This is an exciting partnership because it highlights the university's commitment to supporting and celebrating the next generation of leaders,” said Devon Cox, associate director of admission recruitment at Miami Regionals. “It showcases our dedication to nurturing the talent of local students, promoting academic and professional development, and strengthening our ties to the community.”
The JA 18 Under Eighteen: Career in Sight Award Ceremony & Gala on Feb. 11, 2025, will showcase our area's young leaders who show an exceptional entrepreneurial spirit and an overall impressive skill set. The 18 nominees will be honored during a special ceremony at Miami University Middletown, where they can network with local and county leaders.
