The Miami Middletown Athletic Hall of Fame welcomes its newest inductees (right to left): Mike Heim, Chanée Uribe, and Antonio Williams.

At its 18th Athletics Hall of Fame banquet, Miami University Regionals Middletown campus ThunderHawks inducted three new members and honored an outstanding and record-setting basketball team.

Mike Heim developed a lasting legacy as part of the  Miami Middletown baseball team from 2003-2007. His career stats include No.3 in at bats (392), No.2 in hits in career (146) and runs scored in (94), and No.1 in the number of walks drawn (79). 

He earned First Team All-Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC) honors, Second Team All-ORCC recognition in 2006, and Honorable Mention All-ORCC in 2007. On the campus, he was recognized on the academic honor roll in 2005 and in 2007 received the prestigious Warrior Award, honoring leadership, dedication, and impact on the program. 

Heim earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati and for the past 12 years has served in accounting at Priority Dispatch in Cincinnati. 

Chanée Uribe
Chanée Uribe

A 1991 Middletown High School graduate, Chanée Uribe attended Eureka College in Illinois as a Ronald W. Reagan Scholar. She served as president of the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes and was elected student body president as a senior. Uribe earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Athletic Training, and later completed a master’s degree in Physical Therapy at Andrews University.

Uribe developed a love for tennis at an early age through the Todd Tennis Program, participating each summer and later returning as an instructor while in high school. She also volunteered as a ball girl for the ATP tennis tournament in Mason. At Middletown High School, she was among the first athletes to earn varsity letters in two sports during the same season (tennis and soccer). 

After returning to Middletown, Uribe was the head boys’ tennis coach at Middletown High School for one season before being named Miami Middletown’s head men’s and women’s tennis coach. During her 22 years leading the program, the women’s team captured seven state championships and three conference titles. The men’s team won seven conference championships, including an impressive run of six consecutive state championships. 

Today Coach Uribe is a physical therapist with experience in home care and long-term rehabilitation settings and resides in Fairfield Township. She currently serves on the board of directors for the R.C. Todd Memorial Foundation.

Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams

A cornerstone of the Middletown tennis program, Antonio Williams was a four-year captain who competed at first singles and first doubles. His career highlights include being a four-time team state champion, two-time individual singles state champion, two-time team MVP, and two-time first team all conference selection. The team was undefeated in league play during the 2018-19 and 2019-2020 season. 

Williams attended Miami University Middletown from 2016-2020, earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a thematic sequence in Organizational leadership. Graduating cum laude, he earned numerous honors, including multiple semesters on the Presidents' list and Deans list, The Miami University Regionals Education and Society Award and the Ted Clark Award. 

Williams twice received the C. Eugene Bennett Scholar Athlete award recognizing the highest GPA among Middletown’s student athletes. Following graduation he has built a successful career in healthcare recruiting and staffing and currently works in talent acquisition and scouting.

The 2011-12 men’s basketball team was honored at the banquet, the first team in Miami Middletown history to win four Ohio Regional Campus Conference state championships. 

Coach Bob Nocton led the team to a 26-3 record during that season, defeating Ohio University Lancaster in the semi-finals and beating University of Akron Wayne to take the championship. Nocton was assisted by coaches Cliff Johnson and David Davis.

Team members that season included: Bryce Finkenbine, Akeem Freeman, Marcus Jones, Jay Kinzig, Taylor Luckett, Lamar Malory, Dexter Robinson, Shawn Robertson, DeMarco Washington, Richard Weaver, Andy Wooddell, and Max Zukowitz.
