Why Miami University Regionals?

I chose Miami University Regionals because they offer one of the best business programs in the area. I also loved how there were several campuses nearby, making it convenient for myself and other students.

How did you choose your major?

I’ve always known that I wanted to become a business owner one day and my dad has been my biggest inspiration and the reason why I chose my major. Growing up, my dad had a photography business and whenever I had the chance I would love to learn some of the things he does and know what it’s like to run a business. Now, my dad has a restaurant and I have gotten to learn so much about what it’s like to be a business owner. I honestly love it very much.

How have any faculty, staff, or mentors at the University played a significant role in your journey?

Steve Feldman, both my academic advisor and instructor, is someone that has played a significant role in my journey because he has always reached out when registration for courses was coming up to set a meeting to pick what classes to take. This really helped me stay on track and be able to graduate. I know that if I ever had any questions, I could always reach out to him and get my questions answered.

Advice to Prospective Students

To always follow your dreams and don’t let anyone stop you from succeeding. I would also say to not stress about the little things in life. Life is so short to be worrying about the things you don’t have control over. Focus on the now and your future. Set goals for yourself to keep you motivated and most importantly never stop believing in yourself.

How have you used what you learned in different subjects to solve a problem or come up with a new idea?

The Commerce classes that I have taken have really helped me in being able to make decisions and understand what it’s like being a business owner. I get to apply what I have learned at my dad’s restaurant and hopefully use it in the future when I get into real estate.

How have your experiences at Miami helped you develop an entrepreneurial mindset — like being resilient, adaptable, or willing to take risks?

I don’t believe that taking risks is a bad thing and failing is not something that I am scared of. I think taking risks is a good thing because, if it does work out, then that’s great. If it fails, I see it as something to learn from and know in the future to not make the same mistake again. If you don’t take risks in life you won’t ever know if you missed out on a great opportunity.

How have you used your knowledge or skills from Miami to positively impact your community or the world around you?

Miami has helped me positively impact the community and the world around me. I’m the type of person where I am always willing to help those around me in any sort of way I can. I’ve learned how to improve my communication skills which is something that I am very proud of.

How have you taken on leadership roles or responsibilities — whether in your classes, work, or community during your time at Miami? What motivated you to step into those roles, and what impact did they have?

I have taken leadership roles at work. When my dad is not around and has to leave to our other restaurant that is located in Indianapolis. I stay back at our other location and run the business with my mom. What motivated me to step into these roles is that I saw it as something that could really help me to learn what it’s like to run a business and run the restaurant.
