Why Miami University?

I chose Miami University’s Hamilton campus to be close to home. That way I can still live with my family and work a part-time job while in school.

How did you choose your major?

I chose my major because of my younger brothers and my dad. Each of them have grown up being type 1 diabetics. This truly pushed me to become a nurse to help people as all of the nurses and doctors helped my family. I have a heart for people and want to make a difference in people's lives through love and kindness.

How have any faculty, staff, or mentors at the University played a significant role in your journey?

Professor Barbara Oswald was a dedicated professor who loved her students. She asked us how we want to learn and used our opinion in how she taught us the material. She cared for us and made sure we knew what she taught us. Also, Professor Oswald was very personal and showed that learning can be fun for everyone.

Other Notable Experience

My involvement on campus has shaped me as a leader to work hard in everything that I do in and out of the classroom. I am dedicated to each class, practice, and club meeting showing my commitment to things I love. I have been able to be a part of things that have pushed me to become better; therefore, improving my skills and capabilities in my courses.

Advice to Prospective Students

Advice I have for students is to not be afraid to ask for help. Professors at Miami are there to help you accomplish your goals and guide you in the correct direction. They want you to be successful, so ask for help when needed! Another thing is to get involved. There are so many clubs and organizations on campus to choose from and each is very welcoming! Talk to people in your classes and enjoy being in school with your peers.
