Why Miami University?

I originally considered Miami University for the location; having campuses in Hamilton and Middletown, it seemed perfect for where I lived! I also loved that many of the classes were offered online, giving me the flexibility to maintain a job to help pay for the tuition. Miami University also has a great reputation and amazing academic ratings.

How did you choose your major?

Before starting college, I took a quiz that helped align my passions to a major that best fit those passions and goals. Once I saw Social Work on the screen, I knew it was right. However, I did not immediately jump into the major because I wanted to try other avenues ... all of which solidified how badly I wanted to major in Social Work.

How have any faculty, staff, or mentors at the University played a significant role in your journey?

The staff at the university have been an amazing help. If you put in the effort to ask those questions after class, the staff will also want to help you more. I tell myself I got lucky in the advising department, because I had such an amazing academic advisor who went above and beyond to give me opportunities I did not know existed.

Advice to Prospective Students

Ask the questions, send those emails, show up to the pop-up events on campus, talk to the people in your class, and make an effort with your education. You will have a better experience the more you put into it.
