How did you choose your major?

Digital Commerce provided the option for a 100% online experience that would work with my existing life schedule and job here at Miami. The aspects of business I wanted to dive into were covered rigorously - digital marketing, content marketing, data analysis, leadership, accounting, and strategic management.

Tell us about any special experiential learning opportunities -- research, study abroad/away, student organizations, internships, athletics, or other things -- that have influenced you in a positive way.

For my CMR 401 Leadership Decision Skills senior capstone at Miami University, I planned, organized, and performed a solo community music program called Harmonizing Generations at The Knolls of Oxford. The project was designed to explore how music could promote social interaction and enhance residents' moods while giving me the opportunity to apply leadership concepts from the course in a real-world setting.

I handled every aspect of the project independently, from developing the concept and coordinating with The Knolls staff to marketing, logistics, performance, and evaluating the event through resident feedback surveys. It was a rewarding experience, and one of the highlights was talking with residents after the performance and hearing how much they enjoyed the program.

What are your plans for after you graduate from Miami? What sort of career are you aiming for? What is your dream job?

I'm already using a ton of things I've learned in the Digital Commerce program in my current role as a Program Associate for the Media, Journalism, and Film department where I support around 30 faculty and over 700 Oxford campus students in the department. I'm hoping to continue to continue this trend throughout my career.

If you had an opportunity to talk to a student considering coming to Miami, what would you tell them?

Opportunity is everywhere here, and there are no limits for students to come here and excel. Miami University is a special place unlike any other, and whether you are considering an in-person program, or something offered by Miami Online, you will walk away with a great education and memories that last a lifetime. Most importantly, regardless of your program here, you will graduate with the most important skill in today's world: the ability to think critically and solve problems.

Is there anything else you'd like to share about your Miami experience?

Completing my degree in Digital Commerce while working full-time has been challenging, but rewarding. There have been many obstacles to work through academically, which is always tough but coming out on the other end of things has been one of the great experiences of my life. The faculty in the Commerce program are second to none, and their mix of academic research backgrounds combined with real-world experience make for a first-class student experience.
