Introduction
Dr. Theresa Ervin Conover joined the Miami University Regionals faculty in 2012. Her research interests include problem-solving approaches to address crime and quality of life issues, crime and place, and the role community engagement plays in crime prevention and public safety. Conover's recent research appears in the Journal of Criminal Justice Education, International Journal of Police Science and Management, Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and SAGE Research Method Cases. She also conducts survey research for local governmental and community organizations relating to police and community satisfaction, levels of community engagement, and perceptions of safety.
Dr. Conover also holds the urban planning field's professional certification – the AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners). This interdisciplinary background provides the foundation for understanding processes and structures in urban (and not-so-urban) neighborhoods and how they impact residents' safety and quality of life.
