Synchronizing Art and Business: How a Professional Website Helps Navigate a Creative Career

Creatives spend years in college learning how to become exceptional at their craft. However, they can spend equally as long learning how to market this craft. The purpose of this research project is to address the problem that creatives (i.e. musicians, actors, artists, etc.) spend years in college improving their artistic discipline, but they don’t know how to market themselves once they graduate from college. One approach to solving this issue is finding a platform for creatives to demonstrate their skills in a very accessible way. This project showcases and explains why creatives should build their own personal websites as a platform to market their artistic disciplines. My research project is utilizing my own experiences as a cellist and arts administrator to build my own personal creative website. As a result, I now have a platform to showcase my artistic skills, assist with networking, and market myself to future customers and clients.
