A08 - Degradation of Choline and Carnitine in gut bacterium Citrobacter amalonaticus
Mentor: D.J. Ferguson, Ph.D.
The primary goal of this research is to uncover the enzymes responsible for the breakdown of both carnitine and choline in CJ25. Understanding these metabolic processes could offer new insights into how gut bacteria influence health and potentially pave the way for strategies to reduce harmful TMAO production.
