B54 - Insights Into the Antimicrobial Mechanism of Temporin L
Mentor: Gary Lorigan, Ph.D.
The temporin peptides are a short family of helical antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) (10-14 amino acids) found originally in the European Red Frog. Temporins have been shown to permeabilize both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making them promising candidates for novel theraputics to treat antimicrobial-resistant infections such as MRSA.
