B74 - Genetic Mapping of the ue Mutation in Tribolium Castaneum: A Unique Bidirectional Transformation Mutant
Mentor: Yoshi Tomoyasu, Ph.D.
Tribolium castenium is a model organism used to study genetics. In this project, I will be investigating the location of the unsclerotized elytra mutation on Linkage Group 9 relative to the known mutations pearl and cola. This will be done by conducting a series of genetic crosses in order to create a triple mutant, which can be used in future research to find the centimorgan distance between these genes. Through our research, we found that the unsclerotized elytra mutation is found on the prearl side of pearl and cola. Future research is needed to find specific distances between these genes.
