Dr. Tom Poetter has written this tribute, "A Tribute to Dennis Carlson," in honor of our colleague, who worked at Miami University from 1990-2015. Dr. Carlson was a leading scholar in curriculum theory and cultural studies in education, and he made a tremendous impact on our students, his colleagues, and in the field of curriculum studies.
At the Ohio Valley Philosophy of Education Society meeting recently in Dayton, EDL alumnus Dan Reyes and Kelly Waldrop, and current students Dan Mamlok and Chloe Bolyard presented their work. Chloe won "Best Graduate Student Paper" at the conference!
Congratulations to Michael Evans and Stephen Quaye, both tenured and promoted to the rank of associate professor in EDL in spring 2015. Dr. Evans, a shared appointment with the Departments of Teacher Education and Family Studies & Social Work, conducts research on family-school-community partnerships and organizing. Dr. Quaye teaches in the Student Affairs and Higher Education program area and his research explores diversity dialogues in higher education contexts.
