Post a Job or Internship

Your Human Resources Department can post internship, full- and part-time job opportunities in your organization on Handshake, the university’s electronic job board. Registration is simple and the postings can be viewed by any interested Miami students and alumni.

If you are interested in bringing talented students and alumni into your organization through job postings on Handshake, please contact Melissa Brown, Data Coordinator.

In addition to Handshake postings, you can reach students through Career Fairs and On-Campus Recruiting. The Center for Career Exploration & Success office is available to assist you at any time.

The Alumni-In-Residence Program builds on Miami’s strong tradition of alumni engagement. Through the program, distinguished graduates participate in a structured on-campus program focused on career paths in a particular major or discipline within an academic division.

Program events may include:

  • public lectures
  • classroom presentations
  • office hours with students
  • meetings with student organizations
  • and faculty workshops

By sharing his or her educational and professional experiences, each alumnus in residence broadens our students’ understanding of the career options available to them, highlights the academic and experiential opportunities that prepare them for their chosen career paths, and communicates the continuous process of engagement and learning through which careers unfold.

The program is administered by the Center for Career Exploration & Success, in cooperation with academic divisions, Alumni Affairs, and University Advancement

The Center for Career Exploration & Success holds multiple programs during the academic year for students, ranging from skill-building programs on resume writing and interviewing to specialized programs on using social media or searching for jobs in the not-for-profit sector.

If you are interested in participating in or sponsoring a program, please contact Jennifer McLaughlin, Senior Assistant Director, the Center for Career Exploration & Success.

Panels and Workshops

Throughout the academic year, Miami sponsors a number of career panels and career-related workshops in which alumni speak about selected fields. By participating in these events, alumni help students understand the job market, industry trends, various career paths in their field of study and what they can expect after graduation.

If you are interested in being involved in career panels and workshops, please contact Lesley Pihlajamaki.

Participate as a Mock Interviewer

Miami Center for Career Exploration & Success hosts an active Mock Interview program that allows students to practice their interviewing skills, reduce anxiety, and receive feedback before an actual job interview. Trained interviewers and seasoned professionals conduct close to 1000 mock interviews every year.

Site Visits

Hosting a group of students at your place of employment provides students with an invaluable career development experience. By meeting with alumni and other members of your staff, students gain the real-world knowledge they need to relate their field of study to their eventual career choices. They also learn more about your organization as a potential employer.

If you are interested in hosting a site visit, please contact Lesley Pihlajamaki.
