Biography

David Lindequist joined the Department of Economics as an Assistant Professor in 2020, after earning his Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and his undergraduate degree from the University of Mannheim. He teaches macroeconomics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research combines theory and empirical analysis to study questions in climate, trade, monetary, and fiscal policy, including the welfare effects of green protectionism, spillovers of U.S. climate policy risk, the emissions impact of the shale gas boom, risk sharing in currency unions, the yield curve's weakening recession signal, the persistence of protectionist trade policy, the changing role of distance in business cycle comovement, and how identity expression shapes social contact and local tax policy.
